UT Level 2 Technician

We're Hiring: Level 2 NDT Technician (UT Certified)

Mechanical & Engineering Compliance NZ Ltd. is expanding and is seeking an experienced Level 2 Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) Technician to join our team.

This position is ideally suited to a qualified technician with strong ultrasonic testing experience who is looking to work across a diverse range of lifting equipment, engineering, fabrication, structural, and industrial inspection projects throughout New Zealand.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

  • Hold a verifiable Level 2 Ultrasonic Testing (UT) certification issued by a recognised certification body.

  • Have practical experience performing and reporting ultrasonic inspections.

  • Be able to demonstrate a sound understanding of NDT procedures, standards, and inspection reporting.

  • Hold a current full driver's licence or be eligible to obtain one.

  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Maintain a high standard of professionalism, safety awareness, and attention to detail.

Work Eligibility Requirement

Applicants must already have the legal right to work in New Zealand.

We are only seeking candidates who are:

  • New Zealand Citizens,

  • New Zealand Permanent Residents, or

  • Holders of a valid New Zealand work visa with unrestricted work rights.

Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who also possess:

  • Additional Level 2 NDT certifications (MT, PT, VT or ET) welding inspection certification or CBIP equipment inspection competency certificates.

  • Experience in heavy engineering, lifting equipment, pressure equipment, fabrication, or structural steel inspection.

  • Knowledge of ISO 17020/17025 inspection environments.

  • Experience producing technical inspection reports and client documentation.
