Inspector (Welding / NDT / Statutory Equipment Inspection)

About Us
We’re a small, professional team of three based in Nelson, providing high-quality inspection services across welding, non-destructive testing (NDT), and statutory equipment compliance. We work with a variety of clients across the region and nationally who rely on us for technical accuracy, safety, and practical know-how.

We’re now looking for a fourth team member to join us. Ideally, you're a qualified and experienced inspector, but we’re also open to newly qualified candidates or those with base-level qualifications who are ready to train further.

What the Role Involves
Depending on your background, the role may include:

  • Conducting inspections (e.g. welds, lifting equipment, pressure vessels)

  • Performing NDT techniques (MT, PT, UT etc.)

  • Writing accurate, professional inspection reports

  • Travelling to client sites (mostly within the Nelson region)

  • Maintaining and calibrating equipment

  • Building your technical expertise with our support

Who We're Looking For
We’re primarily seeking someone who is qualified and experienced in at least one of the following:

  • Welding inspection (e.g. Verifiable CBIP, IWI, CSWIP, etc)

  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) (e.g. Verifiable ISO 9712 qualification with certification board competence certificate from CBIP/AINDT/PCN, etc)

  • Statutory equipment inspection (e.g. CBIP competence certificate for inspection of equipment under NZ PECPR regulations and HSWA)

We are also open to candidates who are:

  • Newly qualified, or

  • Hold entry-level certifications in any of these areas and are willing to continue training

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of a base-level qualification in one of the listed disciplines (e.g AS2214 Welding Supervisor/CWI, NDT L2 certification in one method)

  • A practical, detail-oriented approach to work

  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team and to manage time effectively

  • Strong spoken and written English

  • NZ citizenship or permanent residency

  • Full NZ driver licence

  • Willingness to relocate to Nelson, if not already based here

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Relevant verifiable certifications (e.g. CBIP, CSWIP, PCN etc)

  • Prior industry experience in inspection, maintenance, or safety compliance

  • Familiarity with New Zealand H&S and regulatory frameworks
